Transportation

Only seniors are given parking privileges on campus. A copy of a valid driver’s license, the vehicle’s registration and insurance must be submitted to the administrator in charge.  St. Croix Central High School is not responsible for damage caused to vehicles in the parking lot due to deliberate acts or negligence of other students. Drugs, firearms, or other dangerous weapons are prohibited on the school premises including the parking lot and may not be in a student vehicle at any time while on school property.

  • Students must observe the school’s speed limit while on the school grounds.
  • Students must park only in the designated area.
  • Students must be out of their vehicles immediately after arriving on campus.
  • Students are not to loiter in or around their vehicle at any time during the school day.
  • Driving privileges may be denied for violation of school rules.
  • Students are not allowed to move their vehicles without permission from an administrator during the school day.
  • Students are to complete a Parking Permit Form, available in the main office. Form must be signed by a parent/guardian and accompanied with a copy of the registration, insurance, and student’s driver’s license.
  • A parking fee of $30.00 (which is a fund raiser for the senior class) will be charged and a permit issued. The permit must be displayed from the front mirror of the vehicle and is not transferable. Student will only be allowed to park the registered vehicle on campus.
  • Violation of these rules may result in suspension of driving privileges for a period of time to be determined by the principal or principal’s designee and/or disciplinary actions.
     

Riding the School Bus

Many students will ride the school bus to and from school. This is a privilege students are fortunate to have.  Students are expected to exercise caution, good manners, and consideration for other people in going to the bus stop, boarding, riding, and getting off the bus. The rules for riding the school bus are as follows:

  • Students must show a valid school ID in order to ride the bus.
  • Students must show proper respect to the driver at all times and obey the driver’s instructions.
  • Illegal or dangerous objects/weapons are not permitted.
  • Tobacco, alcohol, and drugs are prohibited.
  • A student must not put his arm, head, or legs outside the bus when in transit.
  • Nothing is to be thrown in, out of, or from the bus.
  • The use of obscene language and gestures is prohibited.
  • Willful destruction or defacing of school buses in any way is prohibited; parents will be held responsible for any such damage.
  • Unnecessary noise is prohibited.
  • Fighting or physical play is prohibited.
  • Food or drinks may not be consumed on the bus.
  • Drivers may assign seats to students.
  • Students must be seated at all times unless otherwise directed by the driver.
  • When crossing a street, if necessary, student will cross immediately in front of the bus and in full view of the driver. Traffic should stop for you, but it does not always do so. Look in all directions and be careful.
  • The emergency door is to be used only at the discretion of the driver.
  • Students are to be at the bus stop at the scheduled time. All are to wait in an orderly manner.
  • Students who fail to respond to the directions of the bus driver will be reported to the school principal. A parental conference maybe called and students maybe denied bus transportation. Improper bus conduct may result in suspension or expulsion from bus service or school.  Additional charges may be filed by the Police Department.
