About
St. Croix Central High School (CHS) is the second public high school built in St. Croix which has been in successful operation since 1964, and it has grown to be one of the most landmark in the hearts of many Crucians.
St. Croix Central High School is situated in the middle of the island between two towns, Frederiksted and Christiansted. Each town has a public library and several museums, forts and historical sites which are used as instructional tools, and visited extensively by our students for research, field trips, and cultural activities. The University of the Virgin Islands and the Department of Education's Curriculum Center are in close proximity to the CHS campus. These two educational facilities provide educational services and resources to the school and community.
St. Croix Central High School offers quality education to students with college preparatory, career and technical education, JROTC, and inclusive programs. St. Croix Central High School's main focus is to provide a comprehensive education for all students which focus on cognitive, emotional, physical and social development of all students. The educational programs foster students' reading, writing, computation, problem solving, critical thinking skills, technical skills, career readiness, and creative expression.
The school's environment nurtures self-confidence, independence, cooperation, health and safety of all students. In partnership with families and the community, Central High School encourages the students to become lifelong learners and contributing members of their community and the global society.
Additionally, the demographic data reflects the diverse ethnic and cultural population in our community with the majority of students coming from low-middle income families which allow us to have breakfast and lunch programs for our students.
